OXTED U10's SOUTH OF ENGLAND CHAMPIONS – 2nd MAY 2010

Oxted continued where they left off at the Surrey's and took the South of England Hockey Championship by storm, not only winning the tournament, but also, not even conceding a goal.

The terrible weather conditions did not stop Oxted from playing their fast flowing game and they won their pool with relative ease thanks to wins over City of Oxford, Winchester and Eastcote. Against City of Oxford two short corner variation plays resulted in Harry Oakes and Nick Vandort scoring. Oxted carried this form forward with two quick goals by Isaac Quinton and Zach Wallace in their game against Winchester giving their opposition no time to get settled. Against Eastcote despite numerous short corners, Oxted only converted one of them with the goal being scored by Oscar Loft to win 1-0.

This meant Oxted qualified for the super pools where they beat City of Oxford, Aylesbury and local rivals, Sevenoaks. The game against Sevenoaks was particularly close, however a well executed goal from Oli  Downes gave the O's a 1-0 win. By this stage Oxted had scored 8 goals and conceded none. Against Aylesbury, Zach Wallace produced a most powerful display despatching both goals in a one-sided game to win 2-0.

Canterbury awaited Oxted in the semis and Oxted showed no nerves winning 1-0 and thus setting up a final against Sevenoaks. Oxted played magnificently completley dominating the game from start to finish and
ran out comfortable 2-0 winners with goals from Wallace and Loft. Oxted received warm congratulations from the large crowd present, who acknowledged the Oxted team as a team to look out for in the future.

The team: Finley Dubell, Zach Wallace (cpt), Harry Oakes, Isaac Quinton,Oli Downes,Oscar Loft, Nick Vandort and Bilal Abdu.

They have done their club proud.
